Spatial analysis of multiplexed RNA and Protein detection (STARnP)
Consecutive detection of RNA and protein using the Xenium and Comet platform
Several platforms exist that detect proteins or transcripts in the intact tissue. This information allows to annotate cell types, investigate which cells form clusters and in the cancer context how tumors grow and evade therapy. Both, detection of protein or transcripts, have their advantages and disadvantages. While protein measurement provides finer distinction for cell type and functional annotation, a much higher number of transcripts can be detected simultaneously. We tested, if we can combine both readouts by consecutive detection of RNA and protein using the Xenium and Comet platform respectively.
