Remembering EMBL Interim Director General and Heidelberg Site Director Peer Bork
We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of Peer Bork, a valued executive member of the Health + Life Science Alliance Heidelberg Mannheim. Peer was a leading scientific mind and a committed supporter of collaboration across institutions, disciplines, and borders. His enthusiasm for the Alliance highlighted the relevance of interdisciplinary and interinstitutional collaboration for excellent research.
Peer’s intellectual curiosity, generosity, and integrity left a lasting mark on our community. He will be remembered not only for his outstanding scientific contributions, but also for his thoughtful leadership and his encouragement of others. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege to work with him at the EMBL Heidelberg and beyond.
