High-resolution light-sheet microscopy for imaging of early mammalian development

The immediate aim of the project was to establish a next-generation, dual detection inverted selective plane illumination microscope (SPIM) for high-throughput imaging of early mammalian development. By implementing improved detection schemes for higher contrast and resolution, and integration of all hardware components into a flexible electronics/software framework, supported by our industrial partner Luxendo/Bruker, we could demonstrate superior image acquisition and speed. The recent technological improvements furthermore allow us now to go beyond the initial project scope and optimize the microscope further towards higher sample throughput and micro-manipulation capabilities.
