
The newly founded Heidelberg Mannheim Health & Life Science Alliance creates synergies and added value by uniting leading life science and medical research institutions. The Alliance bridges a diverse range of health-related disciplines and top experts in their fields to fuel innovative research in the life and biomedical sciences. It further accelerates the transfer of basic and applied knowledge into new diagnostics and therapeutics for age related and widespread diseases.
We now offer Postdoctoral Positions to outstanding junior scientists for bridging projects between at least two of the Alliance institutions. Define your research proposal with two principal investigators of different Alliance Institutions who will support you to conduct your research jointly with them. The Alliance partner institutions are Heidelberg University, with its faculties of Medicine, Biosciences, and Engineering, the University Hospitals Heidelberg and Mannheim, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), The Max-Planck-Institute for Medical Research (MPImF) and the Central Institute for Mental Health (ZI).
You can apply with your own research idea or select one of the projects contributed by PIs of the Alliance institutions. Currently, a particular focus is on Alliance research priority areas of cancer research, cardiovascular research, neuropsychiatric diseases, genomics, synthetic immunology, molecular engineering and medical technologies. However, we also explicitly invite you to apply with your own research topics in the area of life and biomedical sciences.

Accepted fellows will be provided a two-year contract. The postdoctoral salary will depend on the respective institution. You will have a host institution and a collaborating partner institution.
Applicants should have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD in a relevant area of research. Application materials should include your CV, publication list, and PhD certificate as well as your project proposal and a confirmation letter signed by the hosting PIs (see application guide for details).
